"It Ain't Fishin' But It's Somethin' serves as part of my senior thesis from University of the Arts. I wanted to create an album that was entirely comprised of recontextualized demos that either never came to fruition or have changed from the artist's initial conception. I requested unused recordings from fellow students and friends, manipulated and combined them in order to create new pieces of music made from the ghosts of ideas past with an aesthetic focus on placing the project within the school of hauntological works. I was equally inspired by and frustrated with hauntology's notion of "lost futures"—futures once promised that never came to pass and wanted to give once discarded music a chance at some kind of future.

Laybrum is the recording name/project of Philadelphia-based musician and producer Andrew Santora. Laybrum sees the recording process as an exercise in consistently learning and unlearning how to craft a song; aiming to incorporate principles of "process music" into the modern Song
